Fund Accountant Stamford, CT – Onsite, 5 days/week
Compensation:

Position Summary:
One of Vaco’s Clients is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join their centralized Accounting & Finance team. This newly created role is designed to support the growth and complexity of the firm’s real estate investment portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in fund accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work across multiple departments to consolidate performance across a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. The Fund Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller, and will play a key role in capital tracking, fund-level reporting, and investor relations support. This role offers significant visibility, technical growth, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly and annual fund-level financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage NAV calculations, capital calls, investor distributions, and waterfall allocations
- Track and reconcile fund-level activity across multiple assets, including equity investments, intercompany loans, and development draws
- Support annual audits and tax preparation by providing complete and accurate schedules, rollforwards, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with property accounting, development finance, and asset management to consolidate portfolio performance
- Assist in preparing investor reporting packages, including asset-level performance, valuation updates, and return metrics
- Maintain capital account schedules, performance tracking, and fund-level cash flow forecasts
- Ensure internal controls and compliance processes are adhered to, with proper reconciliation of all fund activity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- 3-6 years of experience in fund accounting or real estate private equity
- Familiarity with complex real estate structures, such as REITs, JVs, and waterfall models
- Experience using real estate systems such as Yardi or MRI
- Strong proficiency in Excel and ability to build and audit financial models
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present to senior leadership Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
