We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to perform general accounting operations for our hospitality business. Staff Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and the attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting in all areas.

Essential Functions:

Prepare journal entries daily and monthly, ensuring accurate account balances and compliance with GAAP. Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies. Perform month-end duties in accordance with closing schedule. Responsible for setting up fixed assets, disposals, and transfers for all locations. Monthly sales and use tax return preparation and transmittal for multiple counties and subsidiaries. Understand internal control procedures and regulations. Prepare quarterly schedules and external and internal audit requests. Assist with property questions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
2 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience required.
Relevant experience in accounting, preferably within the hospitality industry. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, as well as internal control procedures and regulations Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees. Knowledge of internal control procedures and regulations. Familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to accounting and compliance. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills. Knowledge of accounting software such as Oracle-based JDEdwards General Ledger System, Jonas Club Management, Molo, Dataplus, MICROS, Shopify, SHIFT 4, ALOHA, Opera and ProfitSage a plus. Physical Demands Ability to operate normal office equipment. Extensive use of computer. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
