GENERAL SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing a variety of journal entries, bank reconciliations as well as reconciling high risk balance sheets and operating statement accounts. This position supports the overall operations of the Accounting Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

The responsibilities and duties described in this job description are intended to provide a general overview of the position. Duties may vary depending on the specific needs of the affiliate or location you are working at and/or state requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Works closely with the Accounting Supervisor during the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
Prepares and records various journal entries to the general ledger.
Records cash receipts and prepares bank reconciliations.
Records, organizes and ties out intercompany activity with affiliates.
Performs balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.
Prepares assigned items for external audit.
Assists with the accounts payable processes.
Participates in the the development and completion of special projects.
Performs other position related duties as assigned

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

CPA preferred.

ABILITIES

Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases. Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be a team player with ability to maintain a positive attitude in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Strong analytical skills.
Self-starter, energetic, enthusiastic and customer service focused.
Interested in learning and advancing career.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

BS degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Recent college graduate with degree in Accounting or Finance considered. Minimum of 1 year experience in corporate accounting role preferred.
Healthcare industry a plus.
