Full Job Description Description Hours of Work :
The Town of Davie operates on a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). This position’s schedule will be Monday-Thursday 7:30am-6:00pm in person. Under general supervision, performs moderately complex technical work in the Town’s payroll program for the Budget & Finance Department. Is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll; preparing and filing forms for proper payment of payroll taxes and other payroll-related expenditures; record processing and maintenance of employees’ files. Reports to the Payroll Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Processes bi-weekly paychecks (enter data, audit hours proof & calculations); balances taxes, pensions, and RHIT. Calculates FLSA for eligible employees and balances accruals. Calls in direct deposit, prepares and sends 401a and defined benefit pension files, sends child support payments and HSA contributions file. Creates and sends 457 and positive pay files. Checks positive pay exceptions. Prepares and calls in taxes. Separates and logs checks. Audits timesheets. Does maintenance (enters personnel recommendations for new employees, step increases, add pays, promotions, working out of classification; change of address, W-4, 457 enrollment or monetary changes, attaches deductions or pretax codes to employees). Makes adjustments accordingly. Prepares and sends SUI file and 941. Assists with end of fiscal year and the Fire and Police Pension spreadsheets. Researches as necessary to resolve discrepancies or answer inquiries pertaining to payroll. Processes and prepares invoices for payroll related expenditures for payment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Associates Degree or Technical/Vocational Certificate in accounting or related field. Two (2) years minimum experience in accounting, finance, or payroll. Additional qualifying experience in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
