Staff Accountant Position Available In Broward, Florida

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant with construction industry experience to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting and a strong foundation in construction job costing and project-based financial reporting. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring projects are accounted for properly from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules monthly Prepare journal entries, accruals, and monthly closing entries Assist in preparing and analyzing job cost reports and variance explanations Support project managers with cost tracking and financial insights Review and verify subcontractor/vendor invoices against POs and contracts Ensure accurate revenue recognition in line with percentage-of-completion methods Assist with monthly financial close and reporting Prepare bank reconciliations , general ledger account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Assist in internal and external audits as needed Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry Strong knowledge of WIP accounting and percentage-of-completion method Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar) Intermediate to advanced Excel skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to prioritize tasks Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities

Preferred Skills:

Experience working with general contractors or subcontractors Familiarity with job costing and budget-to-actual analysis CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
