Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida, on a Contract to permanent basis. This role involves overseeing daily financial operations while maintaining excellent relationships with vendors and members. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to support the organization’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily cash operations, including account maintenance and relationships with banking partners.
- Support month-end closing activities by preparing accurate financial reports and journal entries.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the annual budget, working closely with various departments.
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring accuracy and making necessary adjustments.
- Monitor and report on cash balances, addressing discrepancies or unusual transactions as needed.
- Handle credit card transactions, process check batches, and manage chargebacks efficiently.
- Facilitate internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
- Oversee intercompany accounts and execute monthly fund transfers.
- Collaborate with finance and other staff to track expenses and ensure alignment with budget projections.
- Provide cross-training and coverage for finance team members during absences. Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Great Plains and iMIS is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
- Experience in financial reconciliation, including credit card and bank account reconciliations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or association sectors is desirable.
