Staff Accountant Position Available In Duval, Florida

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. In this exempt position, you will play a vital role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will contribute to the preparation of financial statements, tax reporting, and the implementation of efficient accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily financial operations, including cash reporting, cash flow analysis, and sales tax compliance.
• Prepare and consolidate monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring accuracy for public filings.
• Implement and enhance internal control policies and procedures to optimize audit processes and financial planning.
• Oversee accounting close processes and evaluate systems for efficiency improvements.
• Organize and maintain comprehensive records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and bank statements.
• Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and manage accounts receivable collections.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial reporting for senior management.
• Support automation initiatives for payables and reporting processes to streamline operations.
• Provide documentation and support for external audits, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate on payroll processing and maintain accurate funding balances. Requirements
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting principles, budgeting, and cost control practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Great Plains Accounting is a plus.
• Advanced skills in Office Suite applications, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with bookkeeping standards, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to identify process improvements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
• Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
• Experience with payroll processing for large organizations is preferred.
