Full Job Description Qualifications Education & Credentials:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A strong academic foundation in accounting principles is required. (CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus)

Industry Experience:

5+ years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 2-3 years focused on insurance or health plan regulatory reporting. Prior experience preparing statutory financial statements or working in an insurance finance department is essential.

Regulatory Filing Expertise:

Demonstrated experience handling regulatory filings through NAIC, Florida OIR, and CMS (HPMS) platforms. Familiar with completing NAIC quarterly and annual statement blanks and related schedules, filing financial reports with state regulators, and using CMS’s HPMS portal for plan filings

Statutory Accounting Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) as prescribed by the NAIC for insurance companies. (SAP is the set of accounting rules used to prepare insurers’ financial statements, designed to help regulators monitor solvency . Ability to understand key differences between SAP and GAAP and can ensure compliance with SAP in all regulatory financial reports.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting and reporting software. Experience working with general ledger systems and financial reporting tools (e.g. Excel, ERP systems, and NAIC filing software) to gather and analyze data. Ability to manipulate large data sets in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) and ensure data integrity in submissions.

Analytical & Detail Orientation:

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to review financial data critically and identify discrepancies. A track record of meeting strict deadlines for filings without sacrificing accuracy.

Communication & Collaboration:

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to clearly document work and explain financial information to regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders. Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams (Actuarial, Compliance, etc.) and coordinating with external parties on regulatory matters.
