Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to come into the office 5-days a week . The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in day-to-day accounting, experience collaborating with external auditors, and a proactive approach to process improvement. A CPA certification with financial service certifications is highly desirable, and public accounting experience is a significant advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Functions:
Perform daily accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Prepare and review financial statements, consolidated financial reporting, and reports for management. Completing financial analysis for variances, discrepancies, and identifying business drivers to make informed decisions. Prepare aging analysis to calculate liquidity, reserve modeling, and risk management. Serve as a point of contact for external auditors, facilitating audit processes and providing required documentation. Support internal audit activities and ensure adherence to internal controls. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements and support financial planning and analysis, tax preparation, and operations. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 3-5
years of experience working in public accounting and/or publicly traded organization(s). Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field Master’s degree or MBA preferred. Bachelor’s degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position and cannot be waived. Additional certifications such as CPA, Series 3, Series 27 highly desirable Experience within the financial services industry, including but not limited to futures, commodities, broker-dealer. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite). Strong understanding of GAAP. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
