Staff Accountant Position Available In Hillsborough, Florida

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a reputable insurance company in Tampa, Florida. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to key accounting processes, including month-end close and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in general ledger management, accrual accounting, and reconciliation while demonstrating strong organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

• Participate actively in the monthly close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries.
• Create and analyze financial schedules, including account and bank reconciliations, to support reporting activities.
• Develop and review reports, ensuring timely submission for quarterly reporting responsibilities.
• Monitor daily bank accounts and company credit card transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain controls within the Enterprise Accounting System to ensure precision and efficiency.
• Assist in financial audits and manage tasks related to state income and sales tax matters.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial schedules to support organizational goals.
• Recommend and implement changes to operational methods to streamline procedures and reduce costs.
• Communicate challenges and concerns to leadership in a constructive and solution-driven manner.
• Support team collaboration and act as a positive role model within the organization. Requirements
• Proficiency in bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Strong experience with general ledger management and accrual accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate journal entries and support month-end close processes.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems and maintaining internal controls.
• Ability to assist in audits and manage state income and sales tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills to address issues constructively and collaborate effectively.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
