Our practice emphasizes personalized service, technical excellence, and long-term client relationships. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Tax Accountant to join our growing team. Position Summary The Staff Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing tax returns, supporting monthly/quarterly accounting engagements and supporting tax planning efforts, and working directly with clients under the supervision of the senior tax accountant. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a Senior Enrolled Agent and our current intern, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment. Primary Responsibilities Prepare federal and state tax returns, including individual (1040), corporate (1120, 1120S), and partnership (1065) filings Prepare and/or review monthly/quarterly engagements Assist with payroll tax quarterly/annual filings and maintaining accurate payroll tax deposit filings Assist in tax planning and year-round client advisory services Conduct tax research and stay current on relevant federal and state tax laws Communicate with clients to collect information, clarify documentation, and provide updates on filing status Address IRS and state tax notices and assist with tax resolution cases Maintain organized workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm procedures Utilize tax software and technology tools for efficient and accurate preparation and filing Qualifications Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation or working towards one 2-3 years of recent experience in tax preparation and compliance in a CPA or public accounting firm Solid understanding of individual and small business taxation Proficiency in tax preparation software (Ultra Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team Preferred Skills Experience with bookkeeping or accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online Familiarity with tax planning and advisory for closely held businesses and personal tax Proficiency with preparing business and personal tax returns, independently Willingness to assist in mentoring or supporting junior (interns) staff as needed Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience 401(k) after one year Paid time off (two weeks) and firm-observed holidays Flexible work arrangements (with partners approval) Professional development support, including reimbursement for continuing education and licensing renewals
