This position is responsible for the month-end close-out process, preparing financial reports, and performing high-level accounting tasks, including but not limited to general accounting, account reconciliation, payroll, and audit preparation. Meet You You Have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline and two years of accounting experience, preferred; or
Associate degree in accounting or related discipline and three to five years of accounting experience required.
Who You Are You Have:
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger concepts
Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and collaboratively, with colleagues and others of varying backgrounds and skill levels to achieve program goals
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Advanced knowledge and high proficiency with multiple accounting software systems, preferably Microsoft Office (Excel) and Abila MIP
Ability to perform office and accounting duties accurately and efficiently without supervision
Ability to follow instructions and comply with and support the organization’s policies and procedures ? Must exhibit a positive attitude and be an example to others in problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and commitment to the organization’s
mission and vision What You Will Do (Summary): Process the bi-weekly payroll, and input payroll changes
Manage accounts receivable and reconcile monthly bank statements
Prepare deposits and accounting entries, as needed
Develop and track internal, special projects, and departmental budgets.
Maintain general ledger activity and update the accounting database
Identify and prepare journal entries (including all required supporting documentation) throughout the month and review after input
Prepare cash flow analysis and make bank transfers
Prepare various financial analyses as requested by management, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as utilization reporting
Assist with financial audits
Serve as backup in preparing invoices for the Division of Early Learning, reporting monthly expenditures
Manage bank accounts to ensure cash availability for disbursements
Serve as backup to managing the completion of the attendance closeout and provider payments process for School Readiness (SR) Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) providers promptly in accordance with the approved reimbursement policies and import files from state-wide database system including EFT transactions
Participate in a minimum of two ELC Outreach activities and/or events within the fiscal year
Responsible for ensuring appropriate use of all resources by immediately reporting suspected fraud (Internal and/or external) via ELC-established Fraud Reporting Procedure
Contact the Abuse Hotline immediately in the event an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received and notify a manager immediately
Perform other job duties as assigned
