Full Job Description Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to manage critical financial operations, including journal entries, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, reporting, and payroll. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compliance with GAAP standards.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate general ledger activity and proper allocation of expenses. Manage accounts payable (AP) processes, including processing invoices, verifying vendor payments, and optimizing payment workflows. Oversee accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing, collections, and preparing AR aging reports to monitor cash flow. Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, merchant, and balance sheet accounts) to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies promptly. Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and ad hoc reports for management and stakeholders. Process payroll using automated systems, ensuring accurate recording of earnings, deductions, and compliance with tax regulations. Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation as needed. Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax filings, and regulatory financial guidelines. Collaborate with the finance team on special projects, process improvements, and system implementations as requested.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in [Insert Industry, e.g., real estate, hospitality, or technology]. Strong proficiency in journal entries, AP, AR, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll processing. Experience with automated payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or Gusto) and ensuring accurate payroll accounting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Familiarity with GAAP and regulatory financial requirements.
