In this role, you’ll be a critical part of the finance team, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting audits, and driving efficiency through accurate reporting and analysis. As an Inventory Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, reconciling variances, and ensuring that financial reporting related to inventory aligns with operational data. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting principles, hands-on experience in supply chain environments, and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate inventory records across multiple locations and systems Reconcile inventory balances between the general ledger and physical counts Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and warehouse teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies Monitor and report inventory trends, variances, and obsolescence Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory Develop and maintain Excel models to track and analyze inventory metrics Support internal and external audits by providing detailed inventory reports and documentation Participate in system and process improvements for inventory tracking and reporting

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a supply chain or manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, etc.) Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, macros a plus) Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities
