SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

DESCRIPTION

WHAT

YOU CAN EXPECT

Review all bank and account reconciliations monthly
Reconcile petty cash and corporate credit cards monthly
Manage and maintain fixed asset records
Review monthly overhead costs and implement necessary adjustments
Review monthly job cost reports; collaborate with branch managers to verify accuracy
Ensure adherence to operational close dates and perform month-end closing activities
Coordinate with accounting staff to complete month-end tasks within 2 days
Prepare and post monthly general ledger adjustments (e.g., overhead allocations, capital assets)
Assist in preparing financial statements for all entities (individual and consolidated) within 3 days of close, formatted for Rhenus Group and internal branch reporting
Analyze general ledger accounts and reconcile inter-company balances
Prepare financial analyses and reports on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, or as requested
Prepare audit workpapers and liaise with external auditors and Rhenus regional audit team
Respond to IRS, state, and compliance-related queries as needed
Support annual and mid-year budgeting; input budgets in Excel or other software
Conduct financial and cost analysis or support special projects as assigned
Provide guidance and support to the accounting team
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
Perform additional duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING

Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in Freight Forwarding or 3PL
Experience with SAP is a strong asset
CPA, CMA, and/or MBA is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience highly preferred
Proven leadership abilities
Collaborative team player with experience working across departments and management levels
Skilled in managing teams and prioritizing workload effectively
Capable of training and mentoring staff on processes and best practices
Comfortable in fast-paced, dynamic, and global environments
Language proficiency in English; Spanish and German preferred
Willingness to travel occasionally as required by the role
