Job Description

New Edge Associates is collaborating with a reputable banking partner that is currently hiring an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant in Miami, FL. The Senior accountant position is for a bank. This role is instrumental in managing the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close, and preparing regulatory financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of bank accounting practices, including prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets, as well as familiarity with financial institution regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations Maintain accurate records of prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and other core banking transactions Prepare financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP and banking regulatory requirements Support the preparation and submission of required reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., FRB, OCC, FDIC) Reconcile bank-related balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and response to inquiries Collaborate with departments such as Loan Operations and Compliance to ensure accurate financial integration Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline reporting and enhance financial accuracy Ensure adherence to internal controls and banking policies Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5-7 years of accounting experience in a bank or financial institution Strong knowledge of accounting for prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and general ledger controls in a banking environment Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements for banks Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a high level of confidentiality Experience with banking ERP/accounting systems preferred Bilingual in both English and Spanish
