About the Payroll Accountant role:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Payroll Accountant to join their Accounting team. In this exciting role, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processing, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and analyzing financial data. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process and contribute to a variety of essential accounting functions that support the company’s financial operations and growth. Payroll Accountant:
Process biweekly payroll for a workforce of fewer than 100 employees, with approximately 90% salaried and a small portion hourly. Manage end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. Perform payroll-related accounting tasks, including preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger. Conduct payroll reconciliations on alternating weeks, ensuring alignment between payroll data and accounting records. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts associated with payroll expenses, taxes, and benefits. Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Assist in audits and month-end close processes by providing payroll data and supporting documentation. Continuously monitor and improve payroll processes for efficiency and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Qualifications of the
Payroll Accountant:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-cycle accounting and payroll processing required . Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP functions) required . Experience working with ERP systems. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
