About the Project Accountant role:
Our client is seeking a detail-driven Project Accountant to manage key AP/AR functions, support project billing, and ensure accuracy across financial processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys cross-functional collaboration, and is eager to improve accounting workflows. You’ll work closely with Project Managers and vendors while handling everything from invoice processing to general ledger reconciliation. Key Responsibilities of the
Project Accountant:
Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Receivable, including invoice processing, vendor setup, payment execution, and client billing.
Review and reconcile consultant and trade invoices against contracts, budgets, and project data.
Create and process employee and corporate credit card expense reports; resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate project data in the ERP system, including setup, budgets, billing terms, and contract changes.
Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely client billing; upload invoices to client portals.
Perform bank transaction reviews, record cash receipts, and support deposit and reconciliation processes.
Conduct general ledger reconciliations and support month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
Identify and recommend process improvements across AP, AR, billing, and reporting functions.
Provide responsive support to internal teams and external partners on all accounting-related inquiries. Qualifications of the
Project Accountant:
3+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in AP/AR or project-based environments required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems; Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint a plus.
Solid understanding of AP, AR, expense reconciliation, and basic accounting principles required.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.
Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Associates’ degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
