To assist in thepletion of the accounting functions of the County Corrections Department in an accurate and timely manner, including the preparation and maintenance of accurate fiscal records and systems. Actively participate in financial statement and budget preparation.
Essential Job Functions

Carries out the accounting functions of the County in an accurate and timely manner.
Assists in the preparation of financial reports, including budgets, federal state and other reports.
Analyzes revenues, expenditures, account balances and other financial information for individual funds. Maintains and update records of all assigned funds and any other financial documents with appropriate supporting material.
Prepares and file federal and state forms and reports. Actively participate in the revision of systems and internal control procedures and processes.
Prepares, review and post journal entries. Participates in the processing of all accounting activities and transactions. Computes various federal and state liabilities. Inputs and retrieve financial/accounting data for budgetary and cost analysis. Assists during year-end in the external audit and preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial .
Monitors daily cash needs and adjust cash accounts to meet balance requirements. Performs other as assigned/necessary which are related or logical in assignment to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; or a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of direct accounting experience.
Miscellaneous:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers’ License. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with and knowledgeable of accounting principles and procedures as applied to proprietary and governmental fund accounting.
Ability to generally accepted accounting procedures to the analysis and maintenance of accounting records.
Knowledge ofputerized accounting systems.
Ability to operate a calculator.
Knowledge of and familiarity with spreadsheets.
Ability tomunicate professionally verbally and in writing.
Ability toanize work, prioritize, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships andmunications with co-workers, department management, businesses, other fiscalanizations, and the general public.
Physical Demand Requirements
Physical demand: Sedentary
20 pounds maximum lifting.
Occasional (up to 1/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word or perceiving sound by ear.
