NextEra Energy Inc. is seeking an Accountant I at the Juno Beach location. In this role you will report to the Accounting Supervisor and focus mainly on Regulatory Accounting related activities. Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include: Review and post journal entries for revenue, receivables, accruals, amortization and prepaid expenses.
Prepare general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Review monthly transactions for regulated companies and work with other departments to understand/explain variances.
Prepare Monthly and Quarterly reports for internal and external reporting.
Review quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and FERC reports
Assist with year-end external audit, including preparing rollforward schedules and providing supporting documentation.
Create and update desktop procedures for assigned tasks
Ad Hoc reporting as required Job Overview Employees in this role assist in researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, recommending possible solutions, and assisting with the follow-up activities to resolve them.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
- Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
- Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
- Keeps abreast of and applies
GAAP, SEC
regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
