DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(which are not in any hierarchical order) 1. Reconcile subsidiary systems to the general ledger that may include bank and investment reconciliations, capital assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable and prepare journal entries as required. 2. Capitalizing capital asset acquisitions, disposals and depreciation; and correcting adjustments. 3. Conduct periodic physical inventories of the City’s assets compared to that reported on the City’s subsidiary systems. 4. Reviews, approves, and reconciles travel authorizations and employee reimbursements. 5. Review and approve accounts receivable invoices entered by other departments and generate such invoices once approved. 6. Reviews and resolves the collection of outstanding accounts receivable invoices. 7. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end close process. 8. Prepares or assists in preparing reports and analysis; maintains or assists in maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules for a variety of accounts. 9. Assists in the research, evaluation and implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Statements. 10. Assists in the preparation of the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), CRA and ECR financial statements. 11. Prepare detailed financial schedules, adjustments for various note disclosures for the City’s comprehensive annual audit and the City’s annual financial reports. 12. Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy and makes correcting entries as required: examines supporting documentation to establish proper authorization and conformance with agreements, contracts and federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations. 13. Reviews, approves, and reconciles travel authorizations and employee reimbursements. 14. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in educational seminars, webinars, conferences and reviewing related professional publications. 15. Establishes positive working relationships with other public agencies, business and community groups, consultants, legal counsel and departments. 16. Communicate with departments as necessary. 17. Performs other related duties as assigned. Salary Pay Grade 60 $30.41 Minimum – $38.01 Mid Range – $45.62 Maximum Excellent Benefits! Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (education will be verified using the “Education Requirements” listed below) and two (2) year of working related experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A current and valid Florida driver’s license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days from date of employment.
Education Requirements :
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by: a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a), b), or c), above, for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a), b), or c) above. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
