Position Specific Description Position Specific Description NextEra Energy Marketing, LLC is looking for a Principal Accountant reporting to our Director Accounting MTM, Reporting and Forecasting.
In this role you will:
Provide accounting support and reporting services to the energy trading and marketing business units Prepare financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and adjusted earnings policies, in a timely manner, that accurately reflect the financial position, operating results and cash flows of NEE’s trading & marketing activities Maintain SOX Compliance by ensuring financial data integrity, monitoring and maintaining a strong control environment Be responsible for key parts of the mark to market (MTM) accounting function, which records commodity and treasury derivative transactions across the NEE organization Provide support to management on the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow impact of various trading strategies and transactions Specific Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Reporting Daily and monthly reporting of trading results including variance analysis on any trader P&L discrepancies Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close Create and maintain Accounting Master Reference Data in the Energy Trading Accounting systems, including Legal Entities, Portfolios, Profit Centers and Charge Types Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of company derivative and fair value financial statement footnote disclosures Business Unit Financial Planning & Analysis Support Input monthly P&L forecast for trading business units based on analysis provided to and discussions with business unit leadership Prepare and submit forecasted balance sheet and cash flows Deliver daily and monthly Trading P&L reporting, analyze variances, and review results with trade floor personnel Prepare monthly budget vs.
