Our team is built on a foundation of integrity, collaboration, and operational excellence and we are seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to support our continued growth. Position Summary The Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of multiple construction projects. This role ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, oversees project budgets, processes pay applications, and collaborates with project managers to maintain financial control and transparency across all phases of construction. Key Responsibilities Project Accounting & Budget Management Set up new projects in the accounting system, including budgets, cost codes, and contract terms Track project costs and compare against budgets; monitor job cost reports and identify cost overruns or variances Work closely with Project Managers to provide real-time financial reporting and support project forecasting Accounts Payable & Receivable Process subcontractor/vendor invoices; ensure proper coding and compliance with lien waivers and insurance certificates Prepare and submit Owner billings (AIA

), draw requests, and track receivables Follow up on outstanding payments and reconcile AR/AP for construction contracts Compliance & Documentation Ensure adherence to contract terms, lien laws, and internal controls Maintain proper documentation for audit readiness, including change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor compliance Assist with monthly close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations related to construction activity Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and job cost reports Assist in producing financial reports and dashboards for leadership and project teams Support Controller or CFO with ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and internal audits Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3-5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, AIA billing, and WIP reporting Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar) Excellent Excel skills; ability to create pivot tables and analyze large data sets Familiarity with Florida construction lien laws and compliance requirements Experience working with general contractors and subcontractors in a multi-project environment Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and team collaboration skills Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines Proactive problem-solving and critical thinking Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional development and advancement
