Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team at FK Instrument Co, LLC. This role will be working with both the financial and manufacturing sides of the business. This position requires cost accounting experience in the manufacturing industry, including establishing & monitoring standard costs and manufacturing variance reporting. The role also requires good general accounting experience to help assist with various month-end and year-end accounting activities. Responsibilities Act as the lead in establishing standard costs, cost control systems, cost analysis and reporting. Identify, analyze, and report variances in product costing (including routings, labor costs, outside processing, and overhead allocations), job costing and production activities. Develop and maintain financial cost reports necessary to fully explain standard and gross margin analyses and manufacturing variances to standard – review labor and overhead application and variances. Establish and execute cost controls for item masters, bills of materials, and work centers. Execute standard cost updates on an annual basis. Analyze company scrap costs, communicate findings to management, identify root causes of scrap, and help to develop improvement programs. Break down and analyze profitability by customer and product. Provide analysis for product cost and customer negotiations. Track the flow of inventory transactions throughout the ERP system. Analyze results of inventory cycle counts and annual physical count. Update dashboard KPI reporting metrics on a weekly basis for scrap and inventory accuracy. Perform month-end close tasks including account reconciliations, analysis, and reporting for inventory (raw material, finished goods and WIP), and variances. Collaborate closely with the CFO and finance staff to ensure a timely month-end financial close and distribution of monthly financial reporting package. Special projects and analytical assistance as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements 5+ years of experience in accounting roles, with a focus on inventory management and cost accounting ERP Systems experience with strong data mining capabilities Advanced in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and v-lookups) Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Strong understanding of GAAP principles Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills
