JOB SUMMARY
Handles accounting for Housing Corporations, HUD 811s, and others, including recording journal entries, balancing account payables and account receivables, reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial statements, assisting in audits and completing reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university. Three years with preferred degree. One additional year experience may be required for each year of substitution allowed. Excel or other computer spreadsheet experience preferred. Knowledge of computer operations, spreadsheet applications, standard accounting practices preferred.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Records all entries to general ledger in Cornerstone, GP Microsoft Dynamics and Housing Pro Software as applicable. Prepares and processes monthly financial statements. Maintains and updates all permanent housing rent rolls Prepares various required reports, monthly, quarterly and annually. Oversees account payables and account receivables for assigned properties. Maintains and controls fixed assets. Prepares inter-company invoices. Processes draw request payments and maintains schedule of Construction in Progress. Assists in preparation of annual budgets. Prepares audit schedules and year end confirmation letters. Prepares annual PRAC renewals with HUD rent increase requests Will comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct and report any non-compliance to the appropriate official. Will attend all required trainings and perform other duties as required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good skills and demonstrated abilities in computer operations, math, data entry, operating calculator, organization, analysis, initiative, self-management, attention-to-detail, interpersonal relations, and such others that are usually and customarily considered necessary for satisfactory completion of essential duties.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Must comply with all work related rules and standards including, but not necessarily limited to attendance. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of self or others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily indoor/office work. Overtime may be required from time to time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move or manipulate objects. Physical activities including, but not necessarily limited to climbing, standing, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, sitting, reaching – above and/or below waist, fingering, grasping, handling, etc. at varying frequency and intensity may be required to satisfactorily accomplish one or more of the essential duties.
MATERIALS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT
May include, but may not necessarily be limited to computer, telephone, copier and other standard office equipment and materials. None specific to routine duties, however, unusual or special circumstances may require use of emergency safety equipment including, but not necessarily limited to fire extinguisher, first aid equipment/materials, etc.
