- Job Summary Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to prepare financial statements, budgets, and financial analysis reports for complex business units.
This role requires extensive knowledge and skills in accounting to analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, make complex decisions, and resolve accounting issues. The position involves regular interaction with senior management and requires a high level of originality and ingenuity in applying accounting procedures and techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and reports using general ledger accounting software. + Research and recommend solutions for unusual or irregular transactions. + Reconcile general ledger accounts and complete monthly closing procedures. + Analyze general ledger accounts to identify and resolve unusual transactions. + Prepare and review financial reports for management. + Respond to internal and external auditor inquiries. + Assist in the administration of the organization’s annual budget. + Prepare surveys for industry organizations and publications. + Allocate costs to organizational entities and analyze the impact on financial statements. + Analyze securities trading clearance procedures. + Research GAAP issues related to cost allocation and financial statement preparation. + Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency. + Assist in training others in accounting practices. + Resolve complex accounting problems. Knowledge of + Fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures, including US GAAP + Accrual based accounting practices. + Accounting software packages or ability to learn specific applications. + Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations. Skill in + Analyzing and resolving balance discrepancies. + Reviewing and interpreting financial information. + Identifying unusual transaction and accounting discrepancies. + Preparing financial statements, budgets and management reports. + Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to + Make independent decisions and solve more complex accounting problems. + Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels. + Explain or clarify financial information to all levels of management. + Provide training to others. + Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment. + Provide a high level of customer service. Education/Previous Experience + Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in preparing and analyzing financial information; + ~OR ~ + Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
