Accountant 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Sarasota, FL 34240 PEPL has been engaged to place a Staff Accountant for a client in Sarasota, FL. This person will be responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through the preparation of a company’s reports that track assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting with the month-end close process across multiple entities Prepares journal entries, maintains records and files, to include posting prepaids, amortization schedules, accruals, depreciation, and various reclass entries as needed Manages monthly balance sheet reconciliations Reconciles daily cash transactions Answers accounting and financial questions by researching, interpreting data, and correcting account discrepancies Prepares analytical data using accounting knowledge, best practices, and procedures Applies critical thinking to identify corrective action Assists the operational departments with reporting and providing input on areas of concern Assists in gathering information in relation to external and internal audits Provides support with the evaluation of internal controls Ensures compliance with GAAP and maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required 3 years of related experience required Knowledge of general accounting and cost accounting Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables, etc.), and able to manage/manipulate large data sets QuickBooks and/or other ERP experience preferred Problem-solving, time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize Team player, but also self-sufficient Working knowledge of
