Overview of the Property Accountant role: The Property Accountant will manage financial reporting for five multifamily properties, handling full-cycle accounting including GL, journal entries, and variance analysis. Responsibilities include reviewing month-end reports, performing bank and cash reconciliations, supporting AP, and assisting with ad hoc projects. Knowledge of GAAP and strong analytical skills are essential. The Property Accountant will work closely with both operations and finance teams to ensure financial integrity and timely reporting. Property Accountant:
Oversee the accounting for 5 multifamily apartment properties within a 10-property portfolio Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation Conduct financial research to support accurate and timely reporting Ensure compliance with GAAP and support AP processes as needed Review monthly property financials and perform variance analysis using internal reporting tools Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies within a two-week close process Perform weekly bank and cash reconciliations, including review of peer portfolios for accuracy Contribute to special projects and ad hoc initiatives that support continuous improvement. Property Accountant:
3+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting Solid understanding of GAAP principles Proficient in variance analysis, general ledger accounting, and cash reconciliation Experience in property management accounting is a plus Strong Excel skills, including working knowledge of formulas and functions Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a deadline-driven environment.
