Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role, you will oversee critical accounting and financial reporting tasks while ensuring compliance with grant and contract regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing budgets, preparing financial reports, and maintaining fiscal accountability in alignment with nonprofit funding requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate and timely accounting and financial reports for organizational use and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of awarded grants and contracts, ensuring adherence to fiscal requirements.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and funding agencies to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Develop and manage financial reporting tools to streamline operations and support decision-making.
  • Design and implement billing systems and controls tailored to funding source requirements.
  • Analyze financial reports and provide detailed insights to staff, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Support the grant application process by preparing budgets and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Handle various accounting tasks, including invoicing, procurement, and expense management.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Generate monthly budget-to-actual reports and provide analysis to program coordinators and department heads. Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite and Sage 300.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Uniform Guidance regulations.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in budgeting, grant management, and fiscal compliance.
