JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL

To ensure that charter school financial records, payments, procedures and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner in the assigned functional area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited educational institution. Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in governmental accounting. Comparable amount of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to gather technical and contract related information to evaluate charter school applications and reports as required by s. 1002.33 F.S. Ability to use databases and other procedures for collecting, tracking and monitoring charter school compliance requirements. Ability to understand and apply state statues, rules and district policies as they relate to charter schools. Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles. Knowledge of and skill in spreadsheets and mainframe applications. Knowledge of the school district. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to organize and prioritize. Ability to interact effectively with District and school personnel. Ability to work independently. Strong analytical skills. Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all charter school support activities to ensure the district is in full compliance with applicable regulations, district policies and department procedures relating to charter school programs and operations for current charter schools. Complete weekly, monthly and annual reports in a timely and accurate manner and maintain appropriate records. Review charter school applications for technical errors and omissions. Submit school board agenda items for charter school monthly financials Reconcile expenditures with budgets. Ensure that established internal controls are properly followed. Reconcile such documents as bank statements, purchase orders and invoices. Examine purchase orders for proper cost-accounting codes and approvals. Set up special project budgets. Monitor project expenditures for accuracy and compliance. Examine reimbursements from state/federal grant providers. Provide input on cash flow requirements for assigned functional area. Assist in developing and implementing new/revised accounting and reporting procedures in assigned functional area. Keep abreast of such requirements as labor contracts, accounting standards, audit findings, budget changes, and federal and state reporting standards. Keep supervisor informed of activities in area of assignment. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Represent the district in a positive and professional manner. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, administrators and vendors. Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations. Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and objectives. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
