Department Information The School of Business has programs that prepare students to solve problems and apply new technologies within an increasingly interconnected and changing business world. We emphasize career success through lifelong learning and professional development at all levels of the curriculum. The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in General Business, Accounting, Financial Economics, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. A Master of Science in Management and a Master of Business in Professional Leadership are also offered at the graduate level, and accreditation is currently being sought with AACSB. Job Summary The School of Business at Middle Georgia State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Associate/Full Professor in Accounting. In addition, this position is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating all activities related to AACSB accreditation and continuous improvement within the School of Business. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to teach, engage in research, and build meaningful industry collaborations. Responsibilities Teaching Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Accounting, with a teaching load of 3 credit hours per term (fall and spring). Many of these courses are currently taught online, but we are actively seeking to transition toward a hybrid model that incorporates both in-person and online elements to enrich student learning. Develop innovative, real-world course content that bridges academic theory with practical application. Mentor and engage students on academic and career pathways, with a focus on research, internships, and industry opportunities. Research and Scholarly Activity Maintain an active research agenda focused on applied or pedagogically oriented research. Demonstrate a commitment to publishing in peer-reviewed, refereed journals and engaging in impactful research. Develop case studies and applied research with industry partners that align with the needs of the local business community.
Service and Industry Engagement:
Foster relationships with local firms and industry partners, especially in the Macon area, which provides numerous opportunities for collaboration with SCM-oriented firms. Support accreditation efforts, curriculum development, and program growth in alignment with AACSB standards. Contribute to the department, school, and university through service activities and participation in shared governance. Accreditation Manager Serve as the primary liaison for AACSB accreditation-related communications and documentation. Coordinate the preparation and submission of AACSB reports (iSER, CIR, Annual Reports, etc.). Track and maintain documentation required for AACSB continuous improvement reviews Maintain and update faculty qualification data in accordance with AACSB standards (e.g., SA, PA, SP, IP). Monitor faculty sufficiency and deployment across all programs and delivery modalities. Required Qualifications Required Educational Qualifications PhD (or equivalent) in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent. Other Required Qualifications Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An active research agenda, with a plan showing promise for publications in peer-reviewed, refereed journals. Familiarity with AACSB standards, accreditation cycles, and reporting formats. Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and reporting software (e.g., Sedona, SPOL, Watermark) is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Experience coordinating or supporting an AACSB accreditation review. Experience in online or hybrid teaching models with demonstrated ability to innovate in course delivery. Other Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of higher education assessment practices. Evidence of collaboration in research, service, and community partnerships with academic and industry stakeholders.
