- Hybrid work Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records related to property management, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support business decisions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the context of real estate and property management. Responsibilities
- Manage the financial accounting and reporting for a portfolio consisting of approximately 20 properties on modified cash basis
- Reconcile all cash accounts for assigned portfolio including preliminary bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of cash reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statement for assigned properties. This task includes interpreting and analyzing property reports monthly, including variance analysis and reconciliation of required balance sheet accounts based upon the information received.
- Review delinquency reports and apply credits/prepaid balances as necessary
- Follow monthly accounting calendar for timely completion of pre-close and close activities
- Record monthly subsidy receipts from RD, HUD and local housing authorities, managing and reporting daily cash balances for assigned portfolio
- Prepare and provide required Monthly/Quarterly/Annual financial reporting for investors, HUD and other agencies
- Maintain supporting schedules for Management Fees, Lender/Draw activity, Project Worksheet Summaries, etc.
- Prepare and process lender held Replacement Reserve reimbursement requests
- Process Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes
- Maintain and review general ledger account balances to ensure accuracy of postings
- Review open batches in Voyager and work with property management to ensure timely posting
- Calculate and record monthly GPR entries for assigned portfolio
- Review and post tenant utility reimbursement payables
- Review and approve moveout paperwork and Security Deposit Refunds
- Ensure detail information is recorded and documented for solid audit trail
- Respond to audit requests and prepare/compile audit work papers required for year-end audit of financial statements
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Consistently maintain a professional courteous attitude when dealing with clients, residents, coworkers and vendors.
- Performs other duties as necessary. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- 1-2 years Property Management experience required, Affordable/Rural Development preferred
- Intermediate Excel Skills Required (Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Advanced Formulas)
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts and principles related to property management.
- Proficiency in financial software applications; experience with Yardi Voyager is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
