Contract Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accounting Analyst to support capital and reimbursable project administration, billing, financial close, and asset accounting functions. The ideal candidate is a curious self-starter with 2-3 years of hands-on experience in general ledger accounting, ERP systems, and client-facing financial interactions. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliant billing practices, and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and third parties.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Administration:
Administer capital and reimbursable projects to ensure compliance with internal policies and standards.
Invoicing & Billing:
Prepare and validate reimbursable invoices for accuracy and compliance with contractual terms. Collaborate with project managers and third-party contacts to ensure timely collections.
System Support:
Support property application changes by conducting system testing and defect resolution for impacted applications and processes.
Financial Close:
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time, meeting the 4-day month-end close deadline.
Fixed Asset Accounting:
Prepare and document fixed asset transactions, including unitizations, retirements, allocations, and journal entries for management review.
Reconciliations:
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
Reporting & Analysis:
Assist in preparing ad-hoc reports and special financial analyses as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Accounting Knowledge:
2-3 years of experience with general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial close processes. Experience with accounting for intangible assets, including retirements, transfers, reclasses, and cost of benefits.
ERP Systems Experience:
Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms (no specific preference).
Microsoft Excel:
Intermediate skills required (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs); advanced macros not required.
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-orientation skills. Ability to interpret contracts for accounting and billing purposes.
Billing Experience:
Experience in general billing and 3rd-party/reimbursable billing (especially with government contracts) is highly preferred.
Customer Service & Communication:
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Executive presence to effectively interact with internal project managers, external clients (commercial, private, and government), and financial stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have): Reimbursable billing processes. Contract billing interpretation. Government agency billing and reporting.
