Job Description
Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant for our client located in Harahan, Louisiana. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical accounting functions while collaborating with a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger. This is a short-term contract to full time employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct detailed bank reconciliations to ensure financial records align with account statements.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are properly recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in month-end close activities, including account analysis and reconciliations.
- Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP to manage financial data.
- Generate financial reports and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls while handling financial documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to address discrepancies and improve financial workflows.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements within accounting operations. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
- Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and maintaining general ledger accounts.
- Strong knowledge of journal entries and month-end closing procedures.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
