Job Description

Vaco Boston has partnered with a highly reputable hedge fund in Boston and they are looking to bring on a Sr. Portfolio Accountant to their team. The role will be responsible for managing the daily and monthly accounting processes for multiple portfolios. This will include trade capture, valuation, reconciliation, P&L reporting and interaction with brokers and administrators. Responsibilities Maintain portfolio accounting for hedge fund strategies including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and structured products Review and reconcile daily trades, positions, and cash balances between internal systems, prime brokers, and fund administrators Prepare monthly and quarterly NAV packages and investor reporting Analyze daily and monthly P&L and performance reporting Ensure compliance with fund documents and accounting policies Assist with annual audit process and financial statement preparation Liaise with external service providers, including fund administrators, auditors, and custodians Support the implementation of new systems, process improvements, and controls Work closely with operations, compliance, and portfolio management teams Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA a plus 5-8 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, preferably with a hedge fund or fund administrator Strong understanding of investment accounting and financial instruments, including derivatives Experience with portfolio accounting systems Advanced Excel skills; experience with automation tools a plus Excellent analytical and communication skills Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
