Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements while maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue accurate financial statements on a timely basis.
- Manage the general ledger, including posting journal entries and ensuring proper coding of accounts payable transactions.
- Reconcile various accounts such as cash disbursements, resident balances, and vendor accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
- Update and maintain schedules for assets and liabilities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee fixed asset and depreciation records, collaborating with facilities to ensure proper descriptions and disposals.
- Work with multiple departments to ensure seamless integration of data affecting accounts payable and receivable.
- Grant accounting.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies within accounts, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Participate in monthly peer reviews to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
- Assist external auditors by gathering necessary documentation and account information during the annual audit process. Requirements
- Proven experience in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Grant experience.
- Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries with attention to detail.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of month-end close processes and best practices.
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage deadlines and documentation.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration across departments.
