Job Description

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Portland, Maine. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a dynamic real estate and property organization. The role requires expertise in managing accounting processes and delivering accurate financial results within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and precise transactions.
  • Assist with journal entries and month-end close procedures to maintain financial integrity.
  • Collaborate on special accounting projects to support organizational goals.
  • Verify and analyze financial data to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Provide support for financial reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Work closely with the team to address and resolve discrepancies in financial accounts. Requirements
  • Proven experience in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
  • Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
