Basic Function:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue timely and complete financial statements according to our financial statement issuance schedule
- Maintain the general ledger and perform related transactions including but not limited to: + Prepare and post journal entries + Reconcile inter-company transactions and reimbursements + Review accounts payable coding and ensure payments are charged to appropriate accounts + Reconcile cash disbursements, payroll, resident and vendor accounts and other financial accounts as needed + Post payroll in a timely and accurate manner + Ensure periodic bank reconciliations are completed timely and accurately • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation listings and work with facilities to ensure proper descriptions and disposals • Complete replacement reserve draw requests annually or as needed • Work with other departments to ensure proper posting of data as it intersects with accounting including payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable • Perform analytical review of monthly financial reporting • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management • Research and resolve account discrepancies • Work with facilities to obtain annual inventory of various supplies • Maintain proper documentation • Proactively manage departmental deadlines • Participate in monthly peer review work to ensure completeness and accuracy of reporting • Provide additional reporting as requested by Director of Accounting or Senior Management • Assist external auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit • Other duties as assigned

- Works well under pressure when needed to meet deadlines
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience required.
Working Conditions:
