Job Description
Description We are looking for a contract detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Biddeford, Maine. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the financial operations by ensuring accurate financial records and transactions. This position is 30 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and be comfortable managing journal entries, processing transactions, and maintaining the general ledger.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries for the university’s financial records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Record, monitor, and manage daily financial transactions in compliance with organizational policies.
- Process and reconcile manual checks while ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
- Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect current financial activities and transactions.
- Conduct periodic reviews of financial data to ensure consistency and compliance with established standards.
- Assist with miscellaneous accounting tasks and provide support for financial audits.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure all financial data is accurately input into the Banner system.
- Generate and analyze reports to support financial decision-making.
- Address and resolve discrepancies or issues related to financial data. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on journal entries and transaction processing.
- Familiarity with general ledger maintenance and reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in handling manual checks and related documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Knowledge of accounting software, with experience in Banner preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
