PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Perform administrative accounting functions and insure adherence to proper control procedures of the grain department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate with producers, via phone and email regarding current bid, purchase contract execution, general questions and concerns. Maintain accurate grain inventory records. Data enter and verify all scale tickets. Run and verify grain check request. Prepare daily commodity position report. Enter, organize, and manage commodity purchase contracts and customer liens. Prepare government and industry reports as assigned. Prepare reports for month end. Assist with annual grain and financial statement audit. Prepare journal entries as needed by accounting. Train and become proficient in Vertical software. Assist in other accounting duties as requested. Maintains and adheres to the LifeLine Foods Code of Team Behavior. In that regard, this position will be expected to perform duties outside the key responsibilities. Responsible for food safety and quality.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business, Marketing or Accounting from an accredited educational institution preferred; at least 3 years of Accounting experience preferred; Customer service and grain commodity management experience preferred. Familiarity with Sage accounting software preferred. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically, Excel) with ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and other data analysis. Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language. Must be detail oriented and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Excellent organization and relationship skills. Ability to multitask effectively. Strong teamwork ethic, positive proactive flexible attitude with the ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities. Ability to work under pressure and time constraints. Must be able to effectively communicate with Management and Production personnel as well as external producers. Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required to sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger; handle, feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; speak; hear, taste and smell. Occasionally required to walk and move about the facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to speak on the phone, make field visits to industrial areas and to remain on feet for extended periods of time. While the work schedule for this position is generally during core business hours Monday – Friday, the hours and days of work may be augmented/changed at the discretion of management to support business needs.
