Non-Exempt About MCC Metropolitan Community College is the oldest public institution of higher learning in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute. The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses (including MCC-Online) on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River, located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; and MCC-Penn Valley, located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. POOL POSITION

Application materials for this position is accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand. Incumbents perform professional accounting and finance duties to ensure data accuracy, effective accounting controls, and compliance with District policies and State statutes Essential Functions
Manage assigned accounting and finance-related activities with accuracy and timeliness
Reconcile ledgers and accounts, prepare journal entries, and process various finance transactions
Identify, research, and resolve account discrepancies
Collaborate with internal and external teams to support departmental operations, make recommendations, and help resolve finance-related issues
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree and five (5) years of experience in accounting/finance
OR
High School Diploma and seven (7) years of experience in accounting/finance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping practices
Knowledge of computers and related software applications
Knowledge of general ledger reporting techniques
Knowledge of mathematical concepts
Knowledge of data review techniques
Knowledge of recordkeeping principles
Knowledge of customer service principles
Knowledge of automated accounting software packages
Knowledge of data entry techniques
Skilled in applying accounting principles and practices
Skilled in tabulating, recording, and balancing transactions
Skilled in reviewing and resolving account discrepancies
Skilled in compiling and verifying financial data
Skilled in preparing and maintaining financial and complex clerical records and reports
Skilled in providing customer service
Skilled in conducting mathematical calculations
Skilled in maintaining confidentiality
Skilled in operating computer and related software applications
Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically requires feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
