About the Position
This position is located at the PSP Division, CANTON, MS in
MADISON COUNTY.
This Accountant II will be an integral part of the finance team, responsible for managing a diverse range of accounting tasks. The role includes handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, travel expenses, and grant accounting. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable:
Oversee invoicing, process incoming payments, and maintain accurate records of transactions.
Accounts Payable:
Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices, reconcile purchase orders, and address any discrepancies.
Travel Expense:
Review and process travel expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Grant Accounting:
Monitor grant budgets, prepare financial reports for grantors, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members to support various accounting projects and initiatives.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Compliance:
Ensure accounting practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.
- This is a non state service, time-limited NS-14 position with The Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
- What you’ll need to be Successful
Patience, Teamwork, Great Time Management Skills, Accounting skills, MAGIC and MERLIN experience, Bank Reconciliations, Ability to multi-task & pay attention to detail. - Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience and/or appropriate certification.
Agency preferred qualifications:
The agency requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field AND a minimum of 2
