Controller (Nonprofit Foundation) Methodist Foundation of Mississippi 581 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS 39157 Controller (Nonprofit Foundation) Position Description Summary The Methodist Foundation of Mississippi partners with churches, Wesley Foundations, and nonprofits across the state to promote a culture of faithful generosity and stewardship. Through expert investment management, education, and strategic support, we help ministries grow their resources for meaningful impact. Our team is committed to excellence, service, and spiritual integrity in all we do. The Foundation Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of the Foundation while building meaningful relationships with our ministry partners. This full-time position supports both internal accounting functions and client service, offering personalized financial reporting, guidance, and responsive support to churches, Wesley Foundations, and other nonprofit organizations. The ideal candidate is both financially skilled and relationally driven—able to balance detailed accounting responsibilities with a heart for serving the ministries we support. The position will be located at our offices in the Ridgeland, MS area. This position reports to the Associate Director & CFO working closely with our full team. Essential Functions A demonstrated commitment to Christian service along with knowledge of the structure, theology, and practices of The Methodist Church. Maintain and develop relationships with key Finance members within Methodist churches across the state. Assist to maintain client account records and other accounting records as needed Strong customer service and relationship building in all contexts. Attention to Detail and Industriousness—the will to work and the desire for the accomplishment of goals. Neat personal appearance and articulate in communication. Work as a team player to serve the needs of our partners with excellence. Financial Operations (60%)

  • Maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and account reconciliations for foundation-held funds
  • Process and track investment contributions, disbursements, and fund activity
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting and audit preparation
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Assist with the management of investment portfolios and coordination with custodial services Client and Partner Engagement (30%)
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for churches, Wesley Foundations, and nonprofit clients regarding account balances, fund activity, and statements
  • Provide quarterly and annual fund reports with clarity and responsiveness
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure that client-facing financial materials are clear, accessible, and aligned with our mission
  • Represent the Foundation’s values of trust and stewardship in all interactions Administrative and Mission Support (10%)
  • Support development and communications staff with financial data and donor reports
  • Provide assistance to the CFO as needed
  • Assist in planning educational events and workshops on generosity, legacy giving, and investment stewardship
  • Assist with CRM/database management related to fundholder activity
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in nonprofit accounting or finance-related roles
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A personal commitment to integrity, accuracy, and ministry-centered service
Preferred:
  • Experience with fund accounting and investment reporting
  • Familiarity with donor-advised funds, endowments, or church-related financial services
  • Understanding of Methodist values and ministries is a plus
