Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the nation’s premier wetlands and waterfowl conservationanization, seeks a Grant Compliance Accountant for our Southern Regional Office in Ridgeland, Mississippi. You will join an 8-person team providing critical compliance and operational support to our natural resource professionals as they implement conservation initiatives across the Southeastern United States. This role offers a unique opportunity to your accounting expertise in the service of environmental stewardship that will benefit generations to come.
Description
In this role, you will manage and ensure compliance with both public and private grant funding that supports Ducks Unlimited’s wetland conservation projects across thirteen southeastern states. You will work closely with our natural resource professionals and your financial expertise to create a positive environmental impact. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that project expenditures are allowable and align with grant budgets, producing accurate and timely grant reports, and minimizing compliance risks. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills who can thrive in a collaborative environment while upholding financial accountability to our conservation mission.
Primary Responsibilities
Review government contracts and grants for accounting and reporting compliance
Monitor and reconcile project budgets and expenditures
Invoice funding sources on a cost-reimbursement basis
Maintainanized documentation for contracts, grants, and projects
Process vendor payables and staff expenses while monitoring project budgets
Execute administrative tasks efficiently
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Strong written and oral communication skills
Detail-oriented with excellentanizational abilities
Desired Experience
A strong understanding of federal grant requirements and compliance
Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance
Experience in accounting for non-profitanizations
Background in environmental or conservation work
Location This is an in-office position that will work out of our Ridgeland, MS regional office.
