Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Leland, North Carolina. This role will focus on managing and analyzing job and project finances, ensuring that budgets align with actual costs, and maintaining accuracy in financial coding. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our projects through meticulous financial oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of projects, comparing budgeted amounts with actual expenses to identify discrepancies.
- Oversee a rotating schedule of Accounts Payable job approvals, managing multiple projects weekly.
- Ensure all expenses are accurately posted to the appropriate job accounts, maintaining precision in financial records.
- Prepare and deliver financial presentations during project meetings, gradually taking full ownership of this responsibility.
- Utilize Foundation software to manage construction-related financial data effectively.
- Export and analyze data using Excel, including creating pivot tables and detailed reports.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the accuracy of general ledger entries related to job costs.
- Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies in job cost accounting to maintain financial integrity.
- Partner with leadership to provide actionable insights on project financial performance. Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years specifically in job cost accounting.
- Familiarity with the construction industry, particularly in heavy civil construction, is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in using Foundation software or similar accounting systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and exporting data for analysis.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly general ledger and job-specific postings.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work independently and solve complex financial issues.
- Effective communication skills to present financial data clearly and collaborate with team members.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
