Summary:
Works directly with the Director of Risk and Compliance and Chief Financial Officer to complete prequalification of subcontractors and vendors of the Company on regular basis, no less often than semi-annually. Ensures that semi-annual and project specific prequalification packages are received from current and prospective subcontractors and vendors within a reasonable timeframe of request in order to assist the operations and executive teams with assessing risk associated with utilization. Ability to input data from financial statements into risk assessment workbook and/or software and analyze financial statements to calculate construction industry-related metrics. Ability to share strengths and risks of those financial statements with Director and executive management. Further evaluation skills and competences involve identifying financial and going-concern risks present in the financial statements and, in conjunction with reviewing references, determining subcontractor capacity and ability to effectively perform construction work for the Company. Understands relationship of subcontracted performance of the work, project life cycle and scopes of work require for various types of projects, and impact on Company operations and associated risks. Risk-assess subcontractors and provide recommendations on subcontractor selection to help ensure successful project performance. Understanding of various risk mitigation plans that can be employed to protect the Company and projects from risky subcontractors and vendors. Provide advice and recommendations to operations team, project executives, preconstruction, and vice-presidents of risk mitigation plans that can be utilized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Request and ensure receipt of prequalification information from subcontractors. Monitor subcontractor prequalification document status and timeliness of submission. Ability to export data and manipulate into a presentable report format for administrative, project management, executive team members to utilize to ensure subcontract compliance and reduction of corporate risk; provide such reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, as needed. Effective collaboration with preconstruction, operations, and accounting. Maintain an up-to-date prequalification database/software. Create project specific analyses utilizing the subcontractor database of prequalification information. Perform risk assessments of subcontractors that involve financial statement analysis, safety scores, review of references, insurance acceptability, and industry ratio comparisons Provide recommendations for subcontractor selection as well as risk mitigation plans to protect the company Focus on process understanding and provide recommendations for improvement Requirements/Experience A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent of related Associate’s degree and experience Minimum three to five years related experience required Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis, preferably in the construction industry Proactive and very persistent Intermediate understanding of accounting Energy and continual drive for progress and to get things done Organized and methodical Innate ability to assess risks associated with various financial positions Computer skills in Microsoft Windows environment to include Excel and Word Experience working with legal and insurance construction documentation helpful Must present professional appearance and conduct Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills a must
