Overview:

The Accountant II

  • Regional Financial Accounting willbe responsible for carrying out the financial accounting activitiesof the company as developed by the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO),Controller and Corporate Directors
  • Regional Financial Accounting.

Responsibilities include assisting with the execution of policiesand procedures required to maintain compliance with GenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as assisting with thepreparation of financial statements with a focus on ensuring thetimely and accurate delivery of reporting.   • Regional Financial Accounting will assist with managing localfinancial accounting support staff.
  • This full-time position willreport to regional leadership, either the Corporate Supervisor
  • Regional Financial Accounting and/or the Corporate Manager
  • Regional Financial Accounting and will be an integral component ofthe Shared Accounting Services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annualfinancial accounting entries for assigned regional properties toensure timely period closing schedules are maintained.
  • Preparegeneral ledger account reconciliations as assigned by the CorporateManager
  • Regional Financial Accounting.
  • Partner with othershared service functions to ensure transactions posted are accurateand timely
  • Build relationships and liaison with park operatingassociates to ensure operational activity is accurately reflectedin the financial statements.
  • Follow and enforce compliance ofprofessional accounting standards and best practices in accordancewith GAAP.
  • Follow internal control processes, policies, andprocedures.
  • Provide accounting information and documentation tointernal and external auditors as requested.
  • Assist in hiringand/or training of seasonal and part-time financial accountingstaff
  • Assist in developing all shared accounting services teammembers, provide ongoing training and maintain strong associaterelationships.
  • Responsibilities may occasionally require anadjusted work schedule to meet certain deadlines. This may includemandatory overtime and/or evening/weekend hours except whereprohibited by law
  • Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair policiesand procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, andwill demonstrate commitment to Cedar Fair core values and CedarFair cornerstones
  • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from anaccredited four-year college or university
  • 2+ years publicaccounting experience, combined public accounting & industryexperience, or progressive industry experience
  • Previousexperience with Oracle based products, including JD Edwards and/orEssbase is a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point,Outlook (MicroSoft Suite) and pdf (Adobe Acrobat)
  • Excellentwritten, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and able towork effectively independently and collaboratively in a teamsetting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills,and time management skills
  • Confidence to ask questions and getclarification, display a positive attitude, and have a strong workethic
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capabilityto multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, honestand exhibits integrity.
