POSITION SCOPE
EEA Companies is looking for a dedicated accountant for our hospitality division, serving Goodstone Inn & Restaurant (Middleburg, VA) and Playa Cativo (Costa Rica). This dedicated position will be responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting and will be an instrumental asset in helping EEA document, streamline, and improve current financial reporting processes. Utilizing daily, weekly, and monthly audit functions, this position will provide our management teams with the information integral to the organization’s success and become the subject matter expert on the interworking and connectivity of our accounting systems with our point-of-sale systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and analyze accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to department standards. Process misc. accounting transactions as necessary in the normal course of operations, which include but are not limited to receipts, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, inventories, prepaids, and intercompany and interdepartmental transactions. Prepare various reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Investigate items that are questionable or require additional information to determine the reasonableness. Review and audit restaurant transactions and provide communication and general support. Communicate with the Asset Manager and General Manager regarding the discrepancies found in weekly reporting and ensure resolution of outstanding issues before the end of the month. Work with all managers to ensure proper departmental budget variance reporting is done in a timely manner. With Administrative role’s assistance, process accounts payable. i.e., compile invoices, verify vendor compliance, post payables, verify coding, and process timely payments. Calculate commissions as required. Work with the Asset Manager to coordinate and audit required payroll information, including new hires, terminations, tips, gratuity, commissions, and other payroll-related items. Work with departmental managers to ensure timely and accurate inventory reporting. Investigate old or outstanding payables and receivables and resolve promptly. Track and manage fixed assets, reporting, and related depreciation expenses. Track and manage all personal property tax reporting. Assist with year-end budgets and continuous proformas. Prepare year-end 1099 Forms. Work with the Asset Manager to document and streamline departmental activities’ daily, weekly, and monthly audits. Propose and implement process improvements for areas of responsibility. Assist the CFO and Controller with any special requests or projects.s
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience. 5 – 7 years of accounting experience, preferably with a privately owned or closely held group of entities or a direct hospitality environment. Extensive knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation and the monthly close process. Experience working in various accounting or point of sales systems, primarily as they relate to reporting and audit. Experience utilizing NetSuite, Maestro, and Silverware preferred. Experience with intermediate Excel functions. Collaborative, self-starter who can work in a team environment and produce accurate output under tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze reports for exceptions and trends. Practical written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility:
