The Business and Financial Support Specialist provides comprehensive financial and operational support to the Business Shared Services Regional Campus team. This role is responsible for delivering a broad range of accounting and fiscal services to both the assigned campus and the regional team. The specialist collaborates with campus personnel to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient financial processing and operations. Reports to the Transaction Operations Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage financial accounting records and systems.
Review, analyze, and process expenditures in accordance with university policies.
Perform monthly reconciliations of campus cost centers, including payroll transactions.
Prepare journal entries, cost adjustments, and support month-end and year-end close processes.
Generate ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
Serve as the primary contact for co-located invoicing and reconciliation activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer service within the Business Shared Services team.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage complex tasks and adapt to varying workloads.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to navigate the complexities of higher education environments.
Familiarity with university policies and procedures is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
0-2 years of relevant experience.
Intermediate proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Workday.
Previous experience in a higher education setting.
Additional Information:
This is a hybrid position with two required in-office days per week, Monday through Friday. The in-office days may be scheduled at either the Lima or Marion campus.
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $22.69 – $29.83. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
