Accounting Staff Confidential Charlotte, NC 28280 Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Staff/Administrative Assistant to join our public accounting firm. This position is part-time, and the schedule will be depending on the candidate’s availability. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax preparation, and financial reporting. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting the overall financial management of the organization. Responsibilities Bookkeeping and Accounting:
Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in accounting software. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Payroll Processing:
Process payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. Maintain employee payroll records and handle payroll-related inquiries.
Tax Preparation and Compliance:
Assist in preparing individual and business tax returns. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations while identifying tax-saving opportunities for clients. Handle communications with tax authorities as needed.
Client Communication and Support:
Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation and provide periodic updates. Address client inquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
Other Duties:
Support audits and reviews by preparing documentation and reports as required. Stay updated on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and payroll regulations. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Develop SOPs (standard operating procedures) to standardize client communications and product delivery. Qualifications Education Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Experience 1-3 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and/or tax preparation preferred. Experience in a public accounting firm is a plus. Technical Skills Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and payroll systems. Familiarity with tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, UltraTax) is a plus. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Other Skills Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
